Application Went Straight to MJSP Without PF Biometric Invitation

08/01/26 My application bypassed the PF biometric invitation and went straight to MJSP. After submitting additional documents, the status changed a week later. Since a rejection seems likely, should I email MJSP directly to ask why I wasn't invited for biometrics, or is it better to wait and appeal? - @HPBrasil

I think that depends on how long ago you submitted the additional documentation,  what the new status that it changed TO is, and how confident you are that the additional documents you submitted met the request. 

If you feel a need to contact the PF, I'd make the question open-ended, e.g., along the lines of "I just want to confirm that no further information is needed" (I did something like this, back in the days when you could just walk in and ask), rather than a question that requires them to make a yes or no decision on substance.  Snap decisions made in unfamiliar circumstances tend to be "no", since that's usually the safest choice from a bureaucratic point of view, even if it's the wrong answer.

Thank you so much. They only asked for proof that the exam center was authorized to hold in-person exams, which I provided via a screenshot of the registration page on E-MEC. I already went to the PF, and the agent told me biometrics aren't mandatory as long as my request has been fulfilled  but I think she was wrong, since biometrics are a major requirement of the process.

I’m assuming you’re referring to a citizenship application. When I applied a few years ago the PF portion was more than biometrics. In addition to taking my fingerprints the PF wanted to see my actual (foreign) passport to verify what I had submitted online, as well as proof of residence. I was then told my online application must be vetted by the PF officer assigned to my case and was given his name. When I was finally granted citizenship about 18 months after the process began I reviewed the progress online and discovered that the PF officer recommended I not be granted citizenship because he said I had left Brazil too frequently. This was overruled by the MJSP judge because I had applied for Naturalização Extraordinária after living here for more than 20 years. For this application there are no travel restrictions. In short, my point is that the PF biometric appointment was about more  than biometrics and seemed to be an integral part of the process.

Yes ,you are right . There is zero chance to get it approved without the biometrics and document verification. My wife was subjected to a friendly interview by her assigned agent that tried to know everything about her and why she is interested in becoming a brazilian.Her document was properly checked and even hers is not yet at the MJSP and it is likely we are going to get a home visit in coming days. How did you get access to the review of your application?

@HPBrasil The details of my application and all the steps it went through, including comments by the PF and the rejection of those comments by the judge, were available online after my citizenship was finalized. I started the process online, so I had tracking information.  However,  until finalization the only details available to me were the documents and other materials I had submitted.

They will probably make their decision in few months and we shall see going forward. I already mailed them just incase . Maybe they can return the process back to PF for fulfilling the obligations. I opened this thread after years of being a guest member just to share my experience so others could learn .
