Google Fi phone service good in Brazil?

Hello, ex-patriots!

I have heard that Google Fi (a service I use here in the States) works well in Brazil.

Anybody have any thoughts on that?

I also understand that one should switch away from Google Fi to use a less expensive, native service... thoughts?

Thanks in advance, obrigado, tenha bom dia, boa tarde ou boa noite!

You can minimize your dependence on a US cell number if before you move you transfer the two-factor verification for as many of your accounts as possible from a phone number to an Authenticator app.  Social Security (both login.gov and ID.me) accept that, and so do many financial institutions and online services.  Sometimes they won't show it on their sites, but it's available if you ask.

@alexanderstephenlange I haven’t used Google Fi, but I get good coverage with Popcorn Mobile. Unless something has changed, I recall my friend needing to be in the US every 3 months or have his service suspended with Google Fi. Popcorn is designed to be an international plan, so I’ve had no issues and I’ve had good service in the US, Brazil, Panama, and Ireland so far.
