COMPARTILHAR a vehicle: what does it do/what is it good for? (CNH app)

Kurterino

So I finally managed to pay my registration for 2026 for my scooter, and while checking the status in the CNH app, I noticed that if you click on Licenciamento, it will show you the card that you probably would have to show to the police if they ask for it, and right under that, there’s an option Compartilhar. If you click on that, you can enter a CPF number and give it a name, and I was wondering what exactly does that do? Will it simply “send” a copy of the registration document to the person you indicated, provided he/she has the CNH app installed? Or is there more to it?

It's for identifying vehicle operators in the Senetran system, so that when you get a camera ticket on the highway for example, and go to pay the fine online, you can assign the "infrator" so they get the points on their license, otherwise, if this is not done, the points default automatically to the vehicle owner.

Ask me how I know.

Thank you, good to know.

In the meantime, someone else (a Brazilian) also told me that the receiver of the Compartilhar feature will have the registration information on his phone (in the CNH app), and doesn’t need to carry a printed version of it (in case he gets stopped by the police).

Concerning a ticket: what if the infrator is a tourist and doesn’t have a BR driver’s license? I once got a speeding ticket with a rental car (when I still was here as a tourist), and while I did have to pay it (obviously) they couldn’t give me (or deduct) points from my European driver’s license, so I assume they couldn’t apply this part of the sanction. Would that be the same?
