Cheddar Cheese in Brasil?

They don't have cheddar but my favorite cheese store closest to home is in Pernambuco. It is called Campo da Serra and I won't put their website here because you can easily search it up. They have a store at the Riomar shopping mall and their main store is just outside of Gravatá.

Historically Minas Gerais has been the center of diverse Brazilian cheeses but that is rapidly changing. Even here in Paraíba I am finding more and more specialized cheese producers. I keep hoping for some cheddars..........

The specialty cheeses in Brazil seem to be focused on the French and Italian cheeses. Not much focus yet on the other European cheeses or their descendants in the Americas. When I mentioned cheddar cheese to them at this shop, they kinda gave me the “Deer in the headlights look”.😳

Update: Riomar (in Recife) no longer has a Campo da Serra store. TThey do have a store located in Gravatá and they have a good selection of interesting cheeses. Search up their site for a list.

I DID find mild cheddar imported from Cheshire (Joseph Heller brand) in Recife and so as not to broadcast advertising on Expat you can send me a DM and I'll give you the store details. It is R$229/kg..... it's imported.
