Retirement temporary residency visa (Vitem XIV) renewal

Hello,

I just received my vitem XIV retirement visa from the NYC consulate after going through the process. I will be leaving for Brazil to live shortly. The visa notes it is good for one year. Regarding renewal, is this a simple task once in Brazil since I have already obtained my current with all the proper documentation or is there something I need to know in advance when that time comes? Any experience would be appreciated of the process and details required.

Thanks !

06/10/23 @schuett17  Congratulations on your Retiree Visa!  As for renewal, the PF is still working the kinks out of that, and I hope that the process will be running more smoothly when you need it.  For a snapshot of how it works now, see @Viajanete's excellent writeup, Post #313 in this thread:

I was said to denied my Retirement Visa for Brasil...But The New York Consulate never gave explanation or reason for denial just a generic email saying I wouldn't be receiving my retirement visa

Welcome to Brazilian bureaucracy. When I applied for my Retirement Visa in 2008, it took over a year to get it finalized. I would suggest calling and or emailing them to get an explanation for the denial.  It is highly likely you are missing information they asked for. Don’t get discouraged.

Good evening.  Were you denied after submitting your request online, or after being interviewed at the Consulate?  If it was after submitting the online request but before any interview, did you upload all of the documents that were requested?  Note that the completion of the application and the upload of the documents are completed at two different sites:

According to your profile, you're a Dominican citizen.  If that's the case, your Birth Certificate would have required an apostille from the Dominican Republic for submission to a Brazilian Consulate in the United States.
