Are there any group members from Europe on the forum?

Ok, rraypo it was more to do with the pension agreements between Europe and here and any other quirks that are thrown in our direction. The latest for me which could be a big factor is there is no pension or tax treaty here with the UK, this, in turn, means if I become a resident here I will not receive pension increases. They have been talking to each other recently regarding a double taxation treaty but I'm not sure if this includes pension rights.

@abthree It appears that at the moment they are talking but they don't have a pensions agreement which would mean no more pension increases on UK pensions which this year saw a 10% increase.

I am not sure if I can get around this as my pension address is Portugal which does have a treaty with the UK.

11/28/22 @Itoby955. I'm neither a lawyer nor an accountant, but I think that it depends on where you're paid, not on your home address. My home address for the US Social Security Administration is in Brazil -- that lets my account be serviced out of the US Embassy in Lisbon, which is much more responsive than the US offices -- but my benefit is deposited in my US bank account, and both Brazil and the US treat it as US income.

Ok thanks, mine is paid out of the UK bank by HMRC and then direct to my Portuguese bank account.
