On Saturday morning at 10am I was driving through Erima towards the Erima playground. I came up to the roundabout, looked ahead and saw a body lying on the road.
My partner was going to call the police when we looked up and 10 metres further on was an open bed police truck. Swaggering back towards the body was a policeman holding a rifle.
As we detoured around the body I looked down and could see a bullet wound through the temple, with both entry and exit wounds. Blood pooled from the dead fellows head onto the bitumen.
I can only assume that the man was shot whilst on the back of the truck, the body fell off onto the road. There is very little chance you could get a head shot like that when someone is running.
Returned 5 minutes later and the body was gone. The only evidence anything had happened was the dark bloodstain on the road where the dead man's head lay.
You can actually still see the blood stain there.
Made me wonder. How often does this sort of thing happen around town? If you weren't there to witness it in that small window of time you would never know. No crime scene, no investigation. Just another police execution and a blood stain that blends in with the buai spit.
