looking for clarification,

Visa approved 1st march, commencment work date to be confirmed with company, not sure what to do next, employer said will follow up shortly since the person was on annual leave, 2 weeks ago, should i make my way to new zealand or wait, any advice? feeling anxious of being scammed.

If your visa has been approved, then the company really has an obligation to be paying you.

Did you handle the application yourself visa apply.immigration.govt.nz?

@Arran Hunt yes, employer invitation, given token to apply for visa at apply.immigration.govt.nz , its conditional offer, upon being granted visa, pass medical, pass police check

@studentaymi If the link was to the apply immigration govt nz website, then it should be legitimate, as each employer has to apply for, and get, accreditation, making scams difficult to get through.
