A few questions about relocation...

dave89877

My company is currently looking to move me to NYC, but i wanted to ensure im not losing out on salary. Could anyone help?

How much more as a % did you get when you moved from the UK to the USA?
Does your healthcare cover all costs like the UK or do you have to pay excess?
Do you use an accountant for your taxes now and will you be using them indefinitely?

Thanks Dave

Healthcare
Ask for the handbook and review it with a fine toothed comb. You will likely find deductibles, caps and copayments. To individualized to compare here.

Compensation
Will you be able to retain or increase your quality of life and life/work balance?

Accountant
Your expat package can include CPA services. Personally I use widely available software.

I have a good advice as for relocation simpliness. You can use moving cost calculator. For example, QQmoving - online service that will allow you to calculate the cost and delivery time from point A to point B.

Here is more info about the healthcare system in the US:

...and the translated vocabulary, which can be confusing: https://www.cms.gov/CCIIO/Resources/Fil … -final.pdf

Would you still be officially employed in the UK or in the US? Both? This could affect your taxes.

If you need help with your social insurance, you can contact the local office and there they will be happy to advise you as well .... it's just not entirely clear what kind of help is needed ?!
