Born and raised in Istanbul, I spent 5 years in New York City while pursuing an MBA degree and currently a resident of Ottawa since 2019. I started my business, an international real estate services consultancy and brokerage which is based in Istanbul, in 1997. Due to the nature of my business, I have traveled abroad frequently, and also got heavily involved with the Istanbul, New York Metro and Ottawa expat communities. Among my international-focused professional designations are Certified International Property Specialist, CREA Global Affiliate and International Realtor. As a believer of lifelong education, I just completed my 2nd masters degree in engineering and am planning on continuing collecting certificates. I am a proud Rotarian and as a serial networker, an active member of almost 50 associations and organizations in Canada, the US, and Turkey. In Ontario, I am a real estate investor, registered Realtor, licensed mortgage agent and founder of a consulting company which is active in international business expansions. I am curious to find out about other Maltese living in Quebec, since I have rarely met any Maltese in all the 50 plus I've been living here.....Montreal area.  We seem to be a very rare breed in these parts.  I married a man of Quebec heritage, which is why I am living in these parts.  Any compatriots around????

Hello Expat members,

Hopefully everyone doing well and their family too !.

My name Karim , I'm new member among the huge and faithfull members in expat forums.

I'm on my early 50's native from Rabat , Morocco.
As invester , my father and mother came to Montreal , Canada in early 1983, then things did not go so well for them, loosing more than 1.4M$ in investment ( Quebec Recession ) . We lived as very close family doing delivery washing dishes at chinese restaurants and working in convinience store while every kid was studied hard to make it up in upcoming years.

My last Job position was at GAC as Senior Technical IM/IT Lvl 2.

When my father passed away  August 2019 , I decided to go back to Morocco and try my luck investing in small projects.

Alas , I lost too all my 30 years of work saving in 2 businesses that I created in Morocco due to Pandemic  Covid-19 . ( Business were not rooted well to be solid for windy Pandemic ).

Long story short , I decided to return to Canada and this time to Ottawa .

I will be flying back in 2 weeks the time I work here in Morocco and save some money to buy my one way flight ticket and some money to be able to live in Ottawa meanwhile finding job and Rent and so on.

So after 2 years and half , I'm in the monopoly return to Go ( Start from scratch )

Probably , many of you started from scratch in Canada , and I'm in the same situation at the age of 50 and It's VERY HARD !
