I'm newbie! I'm from France and after many months of travels in Southern Hemisphere I decided to become a real expat. So I recently moved to Canada on my own, especially for a job opportunity.
I've been living in South Okanagan from almost 3 months now. I enjoy the place and I'd like to meet new people, out of my network, to share our expat experience. That's why I'm here

Thanks!

Hello 👋 everyone!! My name is Sarah.
I'm a new member on here so please treat me nicely!!! 😎
I've been thinking about moving to Canada for a while now and things in Scotland where I currently live just don't seem to be working. Politically things here are a bit up in the air and as a single mum I'm concerned about my future. I was led to believe that life in Canada for children has a lot more to offer than here in the U.K. I'm looking to start my life in a fresh new way whilst I bring up my daughter of 6 years old. It's been a tough ride for me and I'm looking for a modern apprenticeship in anything that can allow a qualification, while I work part time. I'm interested in Holistic Health Care and although not entirely sure what field within it I want to work towards, in the U.K. the training and acceptance of holistic health care isn't as well accepted as compared with Canada.
I have intetests in other things like photography, Art and poetry. I currently volunteer, in an Art Shop, A Garden and for Rainbows whilst I'm unemployed looking for the right route to things but just can't seem to find the right environment. I also feel a more beneficial weather climate would help with my health also.
I realise that as I have no family in Scotland it won't be a huge challenge not having family in Canada. Advice on how I make the move and the stepping stones to get there would be a Wonderful advantage towards building a better life for my daughter and I.
Please respond if you can and thanks for your acceptance onto the group.

My name is Sarah, I am 35 years old old, married with 2 children (and our little dog who will come with us) and in the process of applying for a Skilled worker visa. I am a secondary school English and Media Studies Teacher and my husband is a recruitment specialist (but happy to do anything employment wise). I know teaching is hard to get it to, and i'll be starting from the bottom again after 14 years, but it'll be worth it. Just all a big daunting at the moment!
We have our IELTS in September.
We are looking at Kelowna, West Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon (and possibly kamloops). If we get a visa we'll be selling up and not looking back!
Any advice or tips for one these areas (and how to get into teaching) would be greatly appreciated.
Fingers crossed- Canada is our dream and we are looking forward to, hopefully, starting a new chapter in our lives over there.
Thanks,
Sarah,
UK
