Will the work visa process be faster if I am in the country?

GaRic

Hi guys,

I recently got an offer letter from a company that wants me to join immediately. I had interviewed with them two months ago and had returned to my country since I was on a visiting visa. Now that I have to join, they want me to apply for a tourist visa and air ticket, and once I'm in Dubai, they will switch it to a work visa. I'm wondering how exactly does this works. I had seen their advertisement in a walk-in-interviews in Dubai portal and didn't go through any consultation agency. So I don't have anyone to explain the process. The company is offering an excellent package; hence I like to move forward with this offer. I'm nervous about the chance of having my visa rejected, along with a loss of money. If I go to Dubai, will the work visa process will be faster? They need someone on an urgent basis, so they have put forth this proposal.

Would appreciate any useful info on this.
Thanks!

Have they started issuing work visas again after the pause? Or it is just for some essential work only? Most job postings are only accepting applications from within UAE.

1) The work visa process i.e. the actual visa wait time will be the same if not a bit longer because it will involve conversion and then issuance of a work visa - an extra step.  But the overall process will be shorter as you will skip the GAMCA medical in your home country
2) But do check if new work visas can be issued.  As far as I know, there was a pause on that due to Covid and it might still be the same situation

And if they are asking you to pay for anything, then watch out.  Go here and read this:

Please make sure that the appointment letter received must be issued by human resource ministry UAE. There are companies who sends fake appointment letter with handsome packages
