Confessions of a lurker

Janric

Hi everyone

After lurking for a couple of months I've decided to come clean! Hubby was offered a job in a university in Riyadh several months ago and I had a heart attack immediately jumped on the computer to find out all I could to convince him it wasn't a good idea so we could make an informed decision. Quite honestly I think I found out more from this forum than from any other I've lurked on consulted, and I'm saying a big "Thank you" to all of you for the questions and answers that I've found so helpful.
I only lurked initially because the move was just a possibility, however there is now a signed contract and a starting date (Sept 2010), and since you have all contributed to allaying my fears and even building up some enthusiasm for this upcoming adventure, I have taken the plunge and signed on as a member. (I also have heaps of questions still but that is just a minor reason for signing up...:))

Another cryptic musicman post!  Is he saying he wants to eat her?? ;)

Alliecat, you can't say that here - it's a family show.
I'll have to castigate you next time.:lol::lol:

Thank you all for making me feel welcome :):)
I didn't realise how vulnerable I'd feel after actually writing a post - very new-girl-in-school-ish actually (don't laugh - I DID!!) But the first day is over and I've got some friends :):):)

Musicman, pay no attention to their teasing, I understood you perfectly (I think...I'm pretty sure...) :D Just kidding! I think you're saying that once I actually get to Saudi I'll know what it's like... and enjoy it! Right?
And I'm sure I will! Like I said, most of my initial fears have been laid to rest and I'm looking forward to getting to know a new country, but there's no denying it's a hugely different culture and life is going to be very different. I want to do all I can to prepare myself - and my family - for it so that we can enjoy it and come away from it better people.
