What do you know about Turkey !

This is a two-fold question.  I don't know any Turkish in real life so I don't really have an opinion there. 

The internet, however--especially chat/skype--is over-run by Turkish guys who generally behave very badly and give Turkish guys a 'bad name,' in general.  I know this is a minority but it's enough to make women leery of Turkish men.

Of course, I could ask what you think about westerners, esp. American women.  I think that due to movies and the proliferation of porn on the internet, many foreign men think that western women (and American, in particular), are of 'easy virtue' (putting it nicely lol).  What's your thought?

All peoples do have their good, the bad, and their ugly. You cannot stereotype a nation, group, or community into a single personality category. Thats wrong.

My Dads family, in Sri Lanka, have traced their roots, way back over a 1,000 years to a town called KONYA in Central Turkey. It has been researched that the earliest ancestors of the family were Physicians (possiblky Unani) who were invited by the local Kings to attend on the Royal Family and thereafter given land and facilities to settle down in the Island. I have pics of some of Dads ancestors too. I would love to visit Konya someday and see the place for myself.

Your vows of repentance a hundred times, come.  From the 13th century Mevlana Rumi said those above.. who lived and died in KONYA.. A call for you )  May be some of those are familiar to him, well known sufi.. whirling dervishes... may be sound something.

Yes, Ive heard of Mevlana Rumi and his philosophy and writings but have not delved on them seriously enough. Maybe, I will now. My paternal grandpa visited Istanbul (Constantinople then) in 1883 and I have a pic of him hand (pencil) drawn by an artist on the street. In his memoirs he also states about how he was presentd to the then ruler and also featured in a Turkish newspaper of that era. In fact when he retuirned home he was conferred with the title of EFFENDI against his name.

He said those words to declare how open their heart to everyone..
which is the clear evident that there will never be any discrimination.. that was all..

I hope you didn't took it beyond it's meaning.. also it was only for MUSICMAN.. kind of call for him to come back to KONYA to see.
