What's ironic these days is that while we've never in history had such extensive mass communication, we're probably more socially isolated than we've ever been.  We're all communicating while sitting by ourselves, be it on a computer, cell phone, etc.

And how many times have you seen two people together and one is on the cell phone the entire time?  This particularly disturbs me when it's a parent and child.

Well true story - Me travelling to riyadh by train (dont ask why), and a saudi couple on the other side. from the moment they sat down till riyadh, both were with their respective BBs and well nothing else..
You dont have to know the thoughts that ran in my head.. :P
