Working hours

huguetth

Hello All

I am in a middle of a hiring process with a foreign company for a role based in Jeddah.

I am told that the working hours is 10 hours a day for 6 days a week...

I am concerned as I have seen the law mention max working hours is 8h a day or 48 days a week.

Can a company make some arrangement in the contract to have their employed to work longer or is this illegal ?

Thank you for your comments !!

@huguetth depends what sector you. Some in construction do 6 days a week. Do check it because if they have already told you 6 days a week then it may well be 6 days a week. Some Saudi companies also have a clock in system so if you do less hours then it might be deducted.

Thank you.

The role is a management role within an EPC company

I could admit 6 days but 10 hours a day gives a 60 hours a week which looks like to be illegal...

10 hours a day seems excessive but if you're project director/project manager then likely the project will be running 6 days a week. Usually there should be a split shifts for project manager construction manager. Have you spoken to them about why the need for 10 and 6

the role is managing freight movement to project site.

It sure that availability is a must but beeing told I need to work 60hrs per week and be at the office is indeed a bit excessive….

i am wondering if most of people in KSA works 6 days or if standards week are 5 days ?

Newcomerquestions

@huguetth usually 5 days but EPCs have a life of their own. I don't think there will be freight 6 days a week. Better u check with them about this as 6 days a week is exce
