habiba.akhtar

Hello All
My husband is planning to move to Kuwait, He will get a work visa soon. How can he take his mother and father along with him as we have heard parents can no longer go on a dependent visa.
Please suggest what are the ways of taking parents permanently to Kuwait with us.Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Dear habiba, you have heard correctly that parents can no longer be issued dependent visa. One can only sponsor them for a visit which is restricted to one month only. This is as per the new guidelines issued by the Immigration Department recently. Previously the visit visa was issued for a period of three months.

Anyway your husband will first have to come himself and complete & clear medical and other formalities before he can get his residency stamped and a civil id issued to him. This procedure can take anywhere between 1-3 months. After that, he can apply for dependent visa for you and/or visit visa for his parents. To get your dependent visa he needs to have just KD 250 as salary mentioned in his work contract. But to get his parents visit visa he will need to have at least 400-450 KD as salary mentioned in his contract.

Although if you have source or "Wasta", anything is possible in Kuwait, it is next to impossible to get a dependent visa for your in-laws under current rules and circumstances.
