Missing CPR

David Edward

My name is David Edward and I am writing this email from UK.

Please note that I was working in Bahrain during the period 2001 to 2004.

After returning from Bahrain, both my CPR and passport have gone missing, and I am unable to trace them. On the other hand, I do not have a copy of these documents.

I believe my record is stored in their system at CPR Office, Bahrain, and it will be easier for them to trace my data by searching my full name.

Please suggest how to get copy of my old CPR.

Without knowing the number and / or having a copy, it will be very difficult.  I suggest to find an agent who has connections and can go check this out for you - this is not a standard process and normally, they are not going to entertain you in handing out anything.

Dear David,

Please note that only LMRA stores your document in respect of Contract, Passport Copy, Medical. As LMRA is established in 2006, they don't have any of your documents.

Coming to the CPR Card. The Information & E-governance Authority stores your photo, fingerprint, address and CPR number. CPR card is generated by a machine and they don't keep any soft copy of the hard copy of the CPR card even now.

All I can help is if you can give me the Passport Number you used in 2001. I can tell you the CPR Number. With relation to the CPR Card Soft/ Hard copy, you will not be able to find it anywhere as the govt does not store it.

I hope this helps.

There is a soft copy of the CPR card if you login on Bahrain.bh through identity card services (click on family services). This option was added a year or two ago when they revamped the portal. You can flip it both sides.  It's not downloadable but you can print the screen and crop it.   I had to do it once as I was travelling and didn't have a copy on me.  Took the screenshots, cropped them, put in word and created a pdf....job done.  It's an updated one ie it shows my cpr under new format ie the grey background whereas my physical card is old format (not up for renewal yet).  It is still working, I checked it now before posting.

But it requires you to have an eKey login and in the case of OP, considering the time, probably won't be there (and probably he doesn't have eKey login as I don't think it existed back then).

Dear All,

Please do not use the ID Card copy available in the Bahrain.bh website. The Signature is not available at the back which makes itself Invalid.

The most Important thing each id card has a serial number at the back each old and new id card  - 20256416565EEA74. This is a unique code given to each ID card. This will not be also available in Bahrain.bh.

The most important code at the back IDBHR000000000<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
0000000000BHR<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
FirstName<<LastName<Middlename<<

This will not be available as well. The one at Bahrain.bh is only for illustration and should not be used anywhere. Only the front is the same and the back has information that might cause suspicions by any officer who checks it.

So, Do not use it any for any official purpose.

Inside Bahrain, you need physical card as they will want to read chip and not take copy.  Thats true of all providers whether mobile operators or banks or money exchanges..... Forget government departments altogether.... They want to see physical cards and copies of those.

However, for OP purpose, outside of Bahrain, it can be used to demonstrate a past ID. In fact I used it at immigration in another country to validate a transaction and also in Bahrain at immigration during covid times as they, for some weird reason, wanted to see it.  I have also used it to give proof of residence while renewing my other nationality passport when my new cpr was in the mail. So it's not a big issue depending on context.  My point was that, for OP purpose, if he had eKey, there is a sort of soft copy available which will work outside of Bahrain for many purposes.
