Moving to Bahrain- Questions regarding university education

arias786

Hello,
I might be moving to Bahrain to teach English in a high school. I have a question regarding moving there with my husband.

We are wondering if it is wise for him to come with me. We are from Canada. Currently he is studying in a college and wondering if he can go to university in Bahrain. What are some good universities? And would his degree count when we return to Canada (equivalency)? What are the tuition fees like? I tried to do a google search for this information but didn't come up with much. Is it better for him to just continue his studies here?

Also, what kind of job could he get there?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Arias786,

In this part of the world, a lot of people prefer to go study or get their degrees from UK, USA, Australia and Canada, the benefit out of doing that is improving their English skills and get a recognized degree/credential that will somehow facilitate their job hunting process and will add value to their CVs, even the Expats who are living here prefer when it comes to college stage to send their daughters and sons to study in their home countries or they may send them to the International Colleges that are having branches in Middle East like the ones they have in Dubai and Qatar … I didn’t hear of any in Bahrain.

So I think it’s better if he finish his studies in Canada, then move to Middle East, it will be of an added value.

What kind of job could he get in Bahrain, depends mainly on his skills, his degree and the local market demands. Once you move over here, you may understand the local market requirements and have a better idea on what better suit his qualifications.

Best of Luck with your move :)

Thank you  VidoDido. I understand what you mean about getting his education in Canada instead of Bahrain.

In terms of a job, he used to be a carpenter. Currently he is working as a housekeeper in a hospital. And he also worked as a youth outreach worker in a youth center for a long time. With those skills, what kind of jobs are available to expats. Any ideas?

Thanks again.
