Hello Pasan Karunarathne

That would be best discussed with your service provider directly for more effective information.

I don't think you understand what a contract means.

If you buy a phone on contract, you are committing to pay for services over a period of time e.g. 2 years mobile phone plan with a SIM - that is why the phone cost looks like a deal.  So what this means is that you will pay, as an example, the fixed fee for the mobile *24.   So if you go for another provider, you will be paying DOUBLE the cost i.e. you will pay mobile phone costs for the new provider PLUS the fixed cost for the old provider as you signed a contract.   So simply, yes you can do that but be prepared to waste the fixed fees on the old provider.

Just a note, if your using mobile data for daily use and don't have wifi at home/office then it makes sense to buy the phone on contract. I would buy the phone directly from any a store (using credit card) and convert the purchase to EMI (Interest free).
