New members of the Spain forum, introduce yourselves here - 2026

Hello everyone.  We thought it was about time we properly introduced ourselves but with a quick note on our username — this account was originally set up for a specific client project, which is why it still shows as “Marmara Apartment”. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to change the username, but we wanted to introduce ourselves properly so you know who is behind the account.

We’re a husband-and-wife team who have made our life in Spain, although our journey here has taken us across the world. I’ve personally moved countries three times and  lived in California for half of my life, as well as in England, before eventually making Spain home.

We’re both very fond of animals, and they are a big part of our everyday life. In fact, our life often revolves around them. I especially love dogs and enjoy being around them whenever I can. I also love metal sculpture and have recently started taking local art classes.

Ian is a retired London fireman who now volunteers with the local fire service. He’s also a a handyman (with too much work) and enjoys kayaking, scuba diving and spending time with animals.

Over the years, we’ve experienced many of the highs, challenges and practical realities that come with relocating to another country. Our business began quite simply: we started helping friends, and then friends of friends, with their moves to Spain. It grew entirely through personal recommendations and referrals.

We believe that happened because we’re honest, blunt and straightforward. We’re no-nonsense people, and we tell clients what they need to hear rather than simply what they want to hear. Moving countries and buying property are major decisions, so we feel it’s important to give clear, practical advice and help people avoid the mistakes we see others making.

We help people from different parts of the world relocate to Spain, from choosing the right area and getting established, through to finding and purchasing the right property. A large part of our work is as buyers’ representatives, meaning we work for the buyer rather than the seller and help them navigate what can otherwise be a complicated property-buying process.

We’ve built relationships with a small network of trusted professionals across Spain, including independent lawyers, mortgage specialists and other people our clients may need during their move. We also help with the practical side of getting settled once people arrive.

One thing we’ve learned from working with people relocating here is that there really is no such thing as the “best” place to live in Spain. Everyone has different priorities, budgets, lifestyles and ideas of what their ideal life looks like. And quite often, the place people think they want to live isn’t where they eventually end up!

We joined this community because we enjoy sharing what we’ve learned and hearing about other people’s experiences of life in Spain. We’re always happy to contribute where we can, particularly around relocation, choosing an area, property and the practical realities of making Spain home.
