Planning a several month trip to Novi Sad

I'm not aware of any such service but if you have any specific questions I'd be happy to answer to my best ability. I live near Novi Sad, in Vrdnik, Fruska Gora national park. (Btw, If you'd be interested in renting a new and modern 1 bedroom house in Vrdnik, I've got one available. There is a frequent city bus between NS and Vrdnik, so one can do without having a car.) 

As for banking, many banks are no longer willing to open accounts to tourists, i.e. people who don't have residency in Serbia... some may still do it if you convince them that you will (for instance) be buying a property in Serbia and thus need an account. However, non-resident accounts don't come with online banking nor with debit cards, as far as I know.

Thank you Petra for your reply and your offer of the house.  What I want to do is learn as much as I can of the Russian language,  I know you speak Serbian but I have been trying to teach myself Russian with very little success and am needing a structured environment and a tutor if possible.  So I probably will need to stay In Novi Sad within biking distance of the Russian Center if possible, my main concern is money,  do venders accept American credit cards,  is USD accepted and if not how do I exchange currencies  can I use my debit card to withdraw funds from my bank state side?   

This is a very intimidating endeavor but I am looking forward to the adventure of being introduced to and learning new culture and language,  if you know anyone that would like to make some extra money showing me  around teaching me some cultural do's and don't s for a couple of days that would be much appreciated.

Hi Mike. Yeah, sounds like you should be in NS. If you bring USD cash, there is no problem whatsoever exchanging it for dinars (at any of the countless money exchange shops). No idea about using your US cards but if you tell your bank that you will be in Serbia I assume the cards should work just fine. But better bring enough cash too, just in case. (It will also be a lot cheaper, I think, to exchange USD for dinars and pay cash rather than use ATMs, due to the ATM fees and FX fees the banks will charge you.)

As for finding anyone in NS, try the Facebook groups Expats in Serbia and Novi Sad Foreign Visitor's Club.
