Car Insurance

egchelsea

Ola everyone - we are looking to buy a car in Portugal next week - my main concern is car insurance...who does everyone use?

I've been doing simulations online but the actual model of the car we want to buy isn't coming up as an option. My Portuguese isn't amazing yet so I'm worried about having to do it over the phone.

Also any other things that differ from the UK when buying a car? I know we have to get a temporary registration of the car (we will register properly when we reach the islands)

Any help appreciated 👍

We recently bought a new car in Porto. We have been offered two different insurance options basic (3rd party) for euro 100 and full (both side damages) for euro 300 annually. All handled by the seller via Generali Insurance company paid with our debit card. Car value : euro 21.000

Perfect thank you! Was the seller a private seller or a dealership? We're looking at a private sale. I did a quote for Generali they seem good. The seller has said we can go in store so not sure if that would be a better idea for us.

I would recommend calling Abbeygate Portugal. They speak English and will provide you with a quote immediately.
