You can definitely go through the process yourself as many others have and there's a lot of info on here to help.   You could ask a couple of lawyers in UK and PT to quote their fees for parts of of the process in case you feel it necessary. Possibly one issue could be finding suitable accommodation for D7 but this is not really a lawyers job.

thanks, my dad lives in Portugal and owns a house there. He is resident and lived their permanently for over 20y but is not a Portuguese citizen. I was wondering whether he could sign an agreement to say I would be staying there.
