Assistance with D8 Visa

dlinehan

Does anyone have a recommendation for who to work with to secure a Portugal D8 (Digital Nomad) Visa?  I was looking to do the process myself with the assistance of a reputable company.

Hi @dlinehan, Welcome.

You can do everything by yourself. Why don't you take a trip to Portugal and arrange your tax identification number (NIF) and accommodation?  In the case of the D8 visa, proof of accommodation is much simpler than D7 visa. It can be an AirBNB, room, Coliving, etc. You can opt for a company, but you'll probably have to pay more for the services than for the trip...

@JohnnyPT

Thanks for the tip.  Yes, we're going back to Portugal in mid-March to open a bank account and to scope potential places to live.  I was really looking for someone to just give me advice on the process and make sure I'm submitting the right documentation.

You must start the process via the VFSGlobal platform. There you'll find a checklist of the documents requested to upload. You will then be contacted by the Portuguese consulate in your country. You will then receive your passport with the visa to travel to Portugal, where you will have an interview with AIMA to get your residence permit.

But, travelling to Portugal before the visa application will help you to prepare some of the requirements. During this trip, you can contact a Portuguese solicitor close to where you want to live, who will help you with the language and prepare the required issues.
