D7 Visa. Police BG check.

Hi,

I am from the UK, but I have not lived there for 20 years or so. How do I get a police criminal check?

Do I get it from my adopted country? Or do I just wait for the Portuguese police to find no info about me? Will this be a problem?

I just got a dbs I’ve lived in the uk for 8 years before that I was in Greece for 15

You go to your local Tribunal or Camara municipal and get one there for 5€

its called Registo Criminal

@saarhomecare Do you mean in Portugal?

So, live in Portugal for a few months and then get the police check? I remember getting a police check before (years ago) from the UK, but they gave no info because of data protection. So, it was no use. I had to wait for a few months and then get the local police to give me one.

This is a problem for those who do not live in their country of birth.

@danrawles Thanks for the reply. But that means the UK has the last 8 years' info about you? So, the UK gave the criminal check or the Portuguese police asked them for it?

I may be overcomplicating things here. I have a tendency for that.
