Travelling to Schengen Country while Waiting for MVV

Hello everyone,

I am now in the middle of Waiting Game by IND, since my fiancé submitted my MVV application in March. *Wish us luck!*

While it is clear that I can't visit the Netherlands at this moment, does anyone know if I can go to other Schengen countries? I have a valid short stay Schengen visa.

I heard someone mentioned that we can't even visit Schengen countries while in the waiting for MVV but I am not sure if it is true.

Would love to hear anything from you and good luck to those who are also waiting!

No, the Dutch government can not but however when in the Schengen area you can travel to other Schengen countries without restrictions (visa wise).

Question will be: does the other country where you wish to travel to prevent you from entering and how long is a short Schengen visa ? Is it really a Schengen visa or a visa for that particular country?

My advice will be to not do anything which can jeopardize your MVV process unless you have 100% certainly you can.

It is a Schengen visa, issued by France. In my case, it is still valid until the end of this year. With the (short stay) Schengen visa, you can stay in Schengen countries for 90 days within 180 days.

What do you thing will jeopardize the MVV process?

You can visit the Netherlands based on your short Schengen visa but , as you know, not on a permanent base. If you do then it can be an issue for the IND and will surely question you about it.

My question was more like: you said France issued the visa so you have to enter France first before you want to travel to another Schengen country.
