Nursing Process in NL

Nursing is a "Regulated Profession" in Holland; the NL Competent Authority that deals with this is called "Ministerie van Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport (Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport) - CIBG"; this link takes you to their website where you should be able to get more information.

Mrs C is a Dutch national and qualified as a nurse in Holland before we moved to the UK; despite having worked as a nurse for almost 20-years in the UK Health Service, she will not be able to work in Holland when we return, without further training back (so back to school), so I suspect there must be some sort of process for you to go through.

I would advise that you contact CIBG and see if they recognise your original qualification; if not, ask what you need to do to get qualified; might save you a whole lot of time and money.

You will almost certainly need to learn Dutch (spoken and written) to a high standard to get a job in nursing in Holland (would you employ a Dutch nurse in the Phillipines who can't speak the language, or write up patient notes in the local language?).

     Thank you for replying, and yes I am well aware of the language course and exam. Currently enrolled at UBC, for the Dutch language course. Yes I will check the site that you gave. I saw your post today when I was trying to search about how to be a nurse in the Netherlands. I did some previous research but I really want to know from someone who already did it. I am currently in Germany and also a registered nurse here. But I am also from the Philippines. My boyfriend is Dutch and we prefer to live in the Netherlands than here in Germany. I haven't started my Dutch course yet but joined to free online introduction classes offered by University of Groningen. How are you now with our field? I still hope that you get to read this.

If you already have the certification to nurse in Germany, then it may be worthwhile living in one of the Dutch border towns and still work in Germany; many are only a bus ride away.

Well we currently have a big shortage of nurses in our nursing homes. If you want to work there and you speak a bit of German you probably can get a job easy.
It could be a good first step for working in the medical field in The Netherlands.

Thanks! The thing is, we need to stay up in Groningen and I live down south of Germany. At the moment, i travel up to him during my free days. But thank you for the idea, we can also consider in the borders up north.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

I'd recommend you start by following this link.

Once you've had your diploma recognised in Holland, you can then start looking for work.  Learning Dutch is very important and the link I've given you explains what is required.

hello to everyone and happy christmas to those who celebrate.  i'm studying nursing in greece and my school is ending this year. i want to nurse in the netherlands but i'm not an eu citizen  but I will have an eu diploma. I want to start a language course in order to come to netherlands! i did research on the internet and saw that my diploma is valid but i need to communicate in detail. i will ask you a question do I need only a language test to be able to do nursing in the netherlands or is it necessary to give professional exams like OET? i could not learn the required documents for equivalence and i could not find the desired requirements for nursing in the netherlands do you have information about the subject? thanks to everyone in advance
