We can only agree having lived near Citta della pieve for 15 years. Perugia airport is an hours dive, major road links (A1) and rail are 15mins at Chiusi making most of Italy easily accessible to visit. It is simple to travel north /south but east /west it's best by car.

The people are very helpful and friendly, encouraging us to try our terrible Italian on them and not laughing too much when we get it wrong. In normal times the food sagra's and town festivals are welcoming and strangers sitting by you on the communal tables will suggest things to try that is a local/village specialty . We've 2 international award winning wineries 18mins from us and more at Castiglione del lago and Magione.

The property market is less expensive than Tuscany and so is the 'stamp duty' and the important thing to remember are the annual taxes on the property, rubbish tax is charged by m2 of the property not the number of people living in it, there is the 'canal tax' as we call it and so on, these are less expensive than the neighboring region. Also important it is up to you to ask for the bill if you do not receive it as we found out getting a charge for late payment on a bill we didn't know we had to pay at the comune, although once registered things like this happen infrequently these days, just keep an eye on the comune website.

Have to say we love it here and wouldn't go back to the UK by choice.
