How did you find trusted sources for property in Italy?

Hi everyone,

For those who already bought or seriously renovated property in Italy: how did you actually begin your search, and which sources did you end up trusting?

I’m especially curious about projects that were not turnkey villas or “€1 house” stories, but more complex properties requiring proper structural, technical and legal due diligence.

I’m asking because through my work network in Italy I was unexpectedly asked to think about a rather specific case in northern Tuscany. I normally work more on the sourcing/research side and almost never look for buyers directly, so I realized I genuinely don’t know where serious international buyers actually spend time or how they typically discover opportunities they trust.

So I thought I’d ask people here who already went through the process: what path did you personally follow, which channels felt credible, and where do thoughtful buyers usually look first?
