You'd probably do a lot better asking about an Indian IDP in India rather than on the London forum. I have heard that it can be quite difficult though but clearly some Indians manage it. Stay away from quick online so-called IDP's as they might not be acceptable in some/many countries.

Many Indians find it very difficult to obtain an IDP in India. I keep hearing this again and again over the past few years. Hopefully the poster will manage it.
