We paid 2,000 EUR for a complete replacement of the roof-top hot water tank including installation last year.

Not a bargain

Fair point, but from the wandering about I did to look at the major components (tank and 2 x panels) was roughly 1,500 EUR retail cost in 2024 without delivery, installation or removal and disposal of the  old system.

Can't imagine the parts are getting any cheaper, so I wouldn't be surprised if a 2k to 2.5k cost installed is still valid.

Cold Water Plastic Tank (400L – 1,000L): €180 to €350 for the unit alone (e.g., standard polyethylene or rotation-molded tanks from local suppliers like Homemarket-DIY or VitaPlast).

Hot Water Cylinder / Solar Tank Setup: €500 to €900+ if replacing a dual hot-cold solar/immersion roof setup.

€150 to €350 for a local technician to remove the old tank, safely dispose/lower it from a single-story bungalow roof, modify weathered pipe connections, and install new ball/float valves.

Like all things, don't go with the first quote, Always get a few and have it itemised, and if possible buy your own and get it installed by someone. You can save a huge amount.
