Remote School Paphos

CyprusNomad

Hey everyone,

I’m new here, so please be kind 😄 (apologies if this topic has already been discussed!)

My family (my wife and our son) and I are planning to move from Germany to Paphos.

Our son would start school in 2027, and we’re looking into private schools, mainly because we prefer English-language education.

Since my work involves quite a bit of travel — and I’ll probably be commuting between Cyprus and Germany quite a lot, especially during the first year (sometimes for 2–3 months at a time) I’m wondering if it’s possible for our son to attend remotely during those travel periods.

Has anyone here had experience with private schools in Cyprus that allow temporary remote learning?

Or maybe even with fully remote schooling from Cyprus?

Any advice or personal experiences would be super helpful, I’d really appreciate it!

Welcome,

It depends on the age of the child. Its called homeschooling, and it's allowed, but heavily regulated. All primary children must attend school.

If you want to homeschool, by law requires parents to apply for and receive permission from the Ministry of Education.

The legal and administrative process for homeschooling is stringent, which can be difficult for some families.

Yes, full homeschooling would also be an option, even though the hurdles for that are quite high and a good online school or something similar would still need to be found.

That’s why a hybrid model would probably be the best solution. Combining in person classes with homeschooling or remote learning via laptop for certain periods.

Maybe there are people here who already have experience with that.
