Inter country adoption

Loredana79

Can anyone help me with information about adopting a child in Cyprus?

Does anyone know the procedure? We already have an adoption certificate (attestation) from an EU country, but we haven’t been able to find a suitable child here. Any experience or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Adoption in Cyprus requires a court application and involves Social Welfare Services (SWS) for suitability assessments and child placement. Foreigners are generally prohibited from adopting Cypriot children, with intercountry adoption being the norm for non-residents. The process includes submitting an application, a home study by SWS, a trial period with the child, and a court hearing to finalise the adoption and ensure the child's best interests.
