Brits in or near Shvistov

Hi everybody,

My name is Ian, a retired 74 year old Geordie from Newcastle. Moved to small village,  Balgarsko Slivovo, with Bulgarian wife, Liliya and mother in August this year. House being renovated. Feeling a bit isolated tbh so would love to meet up with fellow Brits.

hi no but someone I know had spinal surgery at a hospital in varna which seemed to go ok, apparently the hospital found the problem and operated and he’s now fine, whereas the NHS failed to properly diagnose a problem that basically they had allegedly caused following surgery this chap had had in uk 20 yrs earlier. I recall he had some metalwork put in his back as discs were shot but regrettably the uk surgeon inserted the screws wrongly and some were protruding out of the bone and touching nerves, he was told in uk nothing could be done, take some pills and go to pain management . The specialist in varna couldn’t understand how he had managed to deal with the pain for so long. If you want the doctor in varnas name pm me and I will ask for it .

I haven't had any surgery - yet - but have advanced osteo-chondrosis, which is causing daily/nightly pain, in the neck and back.  Discovered from an x-ray in City Clinic, Varna and, again, another failing of the NHS to diagnose correctly - I got told by the NHS I had osteoarthritis, a completely different disease!

I will follow your post with interest, as I'm told it may be possible to have surgery.
