2,300euros for two people in Brussels, would it be enough?

ahaifree

I am considering moving to Brussels with my fiancé since I got a job offer. I will be paid about 2,300 euros/month (net salary), and my fiancé will study, which means no job. (but he has his own savings to use for his study.)

The company is near the palace, Brussels city centre, and I don't really mind spending about 20-30 mins to transport to work, either by bus, tram, or bike, walking, anything. (Honestly, we do not really care in which region we would live if we can find grocery stores or small pub/restaurants near house.) Would it be enough money for two of us to live there?

We would like to rent a fully-furnished apartment with at least one-bedroom since it's only two of us. We do not really need fancy life at all, but we do want at least one day a week to go out to try different food at restaurants or enjoy entertainment (mostly travel in Belgium). Except for that, there is nothing really much that we want.

Do you think it would be enough for us to live together?

Hello ahaifree,

This is a decent wage but just if you want to stay in Brussels. It would be better to see in the periphery. In Brussels, for a furnished and decent apartment with one bedroom, you shall have at least € 1,000 with rental charges.

For the rest, it will be up to you to distribute the monthly budget.

Yeah it will be fine. You can also move a bit out of Brussels where rent prices are lower. But you will keep about 1200-1500 of your net salary after rent. I would say the rent and salaries are similar to Seoul standards. If you got more questions. Let me know
