I can't help you with Trujillo as I am out of La Ceiba.

Basic home construction runs $45.00 USD per square foot around La Ceiba.
Here's what some land prices look like right now in La Ceiba:

Residential direct beachfront lot  $35K - $55K
Ocean view $20K -$35K
Lagoon $20K - $30K
Oversized ocean view $35K - $50K

    Usually they sell lots below the half an acre for 45k, the real estate taxes are a joke, about 150 dollars per lot, if not less, HOA are about 80 per month. See different options as well google "Trujillo Honduras Real Estate" and see the options.

What about the developers in Trujillo Eco Resort. Can´t they help you to sell your lot?  You are looking for a place west of Trujillo, right? by Guadalupe or Santa Fe I guess!!

Are you looking to move or just visit after you buy a property. I own a lot and it's for sale and my friend has a 1 bedroom Cottage for sale in The Trujillo Beach Resort. It's a gated community.
It will take time for Trujillo to develop. Give them 5 years for the sea port to help the town. They are talking about a small airport also in the works. This is the gated community outside Trujillo. recapinvestments.ca/trujillo-beach-honduras/

Gosh ... quite a bit of Canadians selling in Trujillo.

Between Canadians buying online/without seeing property and the Canadian $ being so low.....

La Ceiba is flourishing and has so throughout the years.

Again, La Ceiba has it all and right now. Hospitals, nightlife, markets, malls, casinos, Walmart, many many gas stations ... and more. 12 years ago I wasn’t ready to wait on Trujillo’s infrastructure never mind real life and living. Not much has changed. Gosh.

Most of the people want out of Trujillo. Most of the buyers were speculators looking for an easy sell three years later for twice the price and now they can´t sell it for half the price.

Trujillo has not developed as they were promised, no infrastructure like La Ceiba as Chris said and probably the main reason is that developments there mostly sold lots to speculators.  Rental occupancy rate in Trujillo is almost zero (too far, no infrastructure, no good property management, bad roads, etc) nada. In other words, not a good investment.  That´s why most home and lot owners want out.

Hi folks, I'm a school teacher in Massachusetts in my last year of teaching, dreaming of a Honduran getaway, so a few questions:
   - where in Trujillo is it and how close to ocean is the lot?
  - how much you asking?
  - how safe is Trujillo in comparison with Ceiba where I've spent a good deal of time?
  - and how much do you think it would cost to put up a fairly simple and smal 2 bedroom house?
- and how far and how easy is the drive to Ceiba?
