FEDOGOLF now requires legal residency to play golf

Apparently residency is a new requirement for Fedogolf membership. There are many Fedogolf members ( and have been for many years ) that are not residents, and until recently this was not an issue or requirement. A friend of mine is a long time Fedogolf member, and was told recently at our local course that they could no longer offer him the Fedo rate - EVEN THOUGH HE HAD PAID FOR A FULL YEARS MEMBERSHIP.

Discussion with management at the course : "THIS IS A FEDOGOLF REQUIREMENT AND WE DON'T WANT TO RUN AFOUL OF THEM."

Discussion with a FEDOGOLF person : "THIS IS A GOLF COURSE REQUIREMENT." and " THERE IS NO POINT IN YOUR FRIEND RENEWING MEMBERSHIP IF HE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE IT" ie show proof of residency at the courses.
Of course they would gladly take his annual membership fee regardless as there is NO requirement to include a residency number or cedula number in the online renewal.

This is so typically Dominican : no es mi culpa.

So this is a warning to non-resident Fedogolf members : you might want to reconsider renewing your membership, especially if you have set up automatic annual renewal. Lots of luck getting that refunded - LOL

Yes, this is a new requirement for this year. My wife and I got our residency this year and have used FEDOGOLF with success at some courses. However, we have found one course (Playa Dorado in POP) that no longer honors the membership. They do discount the fees for residents now and claim that we will be able to use our “free” round in the low season.

FEDOGOLF is incredibly hard to communicate with. They don’t answer calls or emails in my experience.
