I think preparing from this end is better

Talk to Hispaniola Freight

You need a freight forwarder for a container

I did house contents and car with them - yrs ago ....but what's changed?
Research, I just googled international movers.
Be careful....

My 1st quote like that $14k...... I did it for $5k

Jade Int'l is the link..... I used Benchmark... have a look
Yes, the international movers mostly serve corporate moves and they are stupid expensive. We did what WillieWeb suggests. You will have to get your stuff to port (e.g. Miami, Houston,....). Shipper takes it from there. Your next concern is having a good import agent in Santo Domingo. Also much preferred to have DR residency; otherwise, they will tax your goods and getting a vehicle through the port may be troublesome.
Local agency is Hispaniola Freight..... I bet they can do the whole thing.

They cleared me coming in - they're great
I can recommend Hispaniola freight. I work with them for my clients.
