That is a very long wait! When the application is submitted online for preliminary review, I believe an account/access password is created that can be used to check the status. If your attorney is not willing to provide that access or give you an update on the status, then you might have been scammed. I hope you haven't paid their entire fee up front.

Exactly as ddmcghee says.  On initial application, the lawyer handled everything.  When it was time for renewal, I asked the lawyer for the login credentials and renewed online without legal help.  If your lawyer is not willing to share the login details, which you rightfully own because it's your information and application, you've been scammed.  The website is below for DGM applications.

If you get the credentials, don't change anything until your application and approval are finished, in my opinion.  You would end up having to start all over again.  BUT...if you decide to use a different lawyer or renew on your own, change the password to your DGM account.

There are delays in applications for Investment programs, but maybe something needs to be done. If you have already completed medical test at the immigration Department, it means is pending by the Immigration.
