Citizenship of the Dominican Republic or just resident

planner

It's totally up to you. No one has to become a citizen

rfortinsz

My husband and I are Canadians hoping to be able to retire in the DR.  We want to begin the process towards eventual permanant residency or citizenship.  I would very much appreciate  recommendations for an honest and reliable lawyer to help us with paperwork because I am feeling quite confused by conflicting information I have read on different websites and it seems overwhelming!  Thank you!

@rfortinsz Contact Lishali Baez - she is, by far, the most recommended immigration attorney here! We've used her for initial residency and two renewals.  809-860-1231, libaezm@gmail.com, https://lishalibaez.com/

@DRVisitor

You have to be a citizen.

How hard is the citizen spanish test?

I am curious to know from someone who has actually taken the test and/or gone through the interview process.

I heard it was easy and that they take it easier on applicants married to Dominicans than those who are not. When I finish the process, I will definitely share.

I got 10 out of 10.  The questions they asked required short answers, not full paragraphs.
