Be careful with certain home builders.

I am posting this review to warn the community, prospective homeowners, and investors in the Guanacaste region (Santa Cruz, Huacas, Tamarindo, Samara, Carrillo, and surrounding areas).

Here are the hard facts regarding my experience with the company RIVERA Construcción y Remodelación and its principal, Diego Andrés Cárdenas Rivera:

•    Breach of contract: Despite signing a formal contract for a real estate project—with legal counsel present—the agreed-upon obligations were not met.

•    Total abandonment of the project: After collecting tens of thousands of dollars—funds requested for materials and to launch the work—construction never began; it was perpetually delayed using various excuses.

•    Complete breakdown in communication: The contractor, Diego Andrés Cárdenas Rivera, now refuses to answer calls, WhatsApp messages, or formal follow-up requests. Promises to resume work were never honored, leading the clients to finally cut ties with this builder.

Consequences: Major financial losses, a real estate project at a complete standstill, and the necessity of incurring further expenses.

I possess full written documentation: the signed contract, bank transfer receipts, message logs, dated photographic evidence showing the abandoned site, and even a report from a lawyer summarizing all the information shared with her.

Recommendation: Exercise extreme caution before entrusting your funds or your construction/renovation project to RIVERA Construcción y Remodelación or Diego Andrés Cárdenas Rivera. I strongly advise having any proposal thoroughly reviewed by an independent local lawyer before paying a single dollar.
