help with local bank transfer

marybelr

Hello,
We have an appointment at the US consul and need to pay them their (visa) fee first. However we are not in Belize yet and they only accept a local bank transfer (no international wire). Anybody provides this service or can be of help? We are sort of stuck to continue with their online appointment registration made more difficult by covid..
Thanks!
Marybel

I don't understand  why you have an appointment with the US consulate related to a Belize visa, and why you would need to pay the US consulate for anything in Belize. If you stay in Belize longer than your stated date of departure, you will need to renew every 30 days. You can renew your visa in multiple places, and you can pay it in cash. I don't know why you would need to transfer money from a Belizean bank account for anything related to a visa. If you are not Belizean, it is very difficult these days to obtain a Belizean bank account.
This was just posted on another thread(thanks Brigette B):
"- Opening a bank account used to be easy. I’ve heard some people having trouble getting an account without being residents or QRP. We are with Atlantic Bank, and have no complaints.
- Can’t comment on QRP. Coming into Belize, you will get a 30 day stamp/visa. You will have to visit immigration, before the date on that stamp expires, to renew. The cost per 30 day extension is USD 100.
You may get a 2 or 3 month extension. You may or may not have to show immigration how you will be able to support yourself financially."
