Looking to move to Vung Tau area from Canada, what’s the options for work as an expat? I’m currently a manager at a commercial exterior construction company, I specialize in building envelope.

Good luck 🤞

In Vietnam (not just Vũng Tàu) It's illegal for a foreigner to work without a Government work permit.

It's basically illegal for any foreigner to generate any income for themselves in Vietnam unless they are legally employed with a work permit or they have legally established a business here.

So you have to do a little bit of research to see which career fields are offering positions to foreigners who qualify as "experts".

When you are doing so, keep in mind that if there are Vietnamese people who qualify for such positions, you won't be able to be hired, because the government won't approve of you being hired when there are Vietnamese people who are qualified and can do the same job.
