Can I take a wooden sword into vietnam?

Hello I am having to move to Vietnam Ho Chi Minh City in a month and I currently have an antique sword with a wooden blade in my possession that I have to take with me. I have checked Vietnam airlines and they said its okay in checked luggage, however I'm worried because some people told me that they confiscate it since it looks like a weapon even though it has a wooden blade.... Does anyone have any similar experience they can share?

i similarly am taking a wooden bow and arrow (it's a wall decor item now in the tribal area of viet nam northwest region) into the u.s. would there be an issue of getting through check luggage? does anyone here have experience in this area.?

What I know you can take a real katana, an unloaded gun, chef knives, etc... The condition: everything similar to a weapon must be kept inside the checked luggage and declared at the counter.

I honestly doubt you're speaking from first hand experience.

It is very, very difficult to even own any sort of firearm, even a CO2 operated pistol is strictly forbidden in all VN!

But to the OP, I assume what VN airlines told you sounds ok. In case you should get stopped and asked to open your CHECK IN bags, then, if asked at all, simply declare it as a souvenir of little value.
