Could someone kindly point me in the direction of a comprehensive list of prohibited items by customs?

I've tried searching in English and Vietnamese with no luck.

Thanks in Advance!

Thanks for the link, but I checked that page and it's not very helpful. Specifically, I'm wondering if they'll allow a bottle of aftershave/cologne.

Every once in awhile I used to get a few bottles of the stuff and others that were liquid in the mail from a friend of ours in the States. About 3 years ago I got a e-mail from him saying that it wasn't allowed in the US postal system any more because the contents were liquid over a certain amount. Wasn't a problem with Vietnam but on the USA side. I found another source for contents that are liquid and shipped to me from outside the USA with no problem.

Sex toys are taboo and won't make it through for sure!!

I believe colognes and perfumes are not allowed in. You can carry enough for personal use via the airport. I tried to ship through my shipper in the USA and he said it was a no no.

And you know this because.....?

Vagabond,

Sex toys were once banned as being in contrary to Vietnamese culture, but the ban was lifted quickly and the VN language press reported that they were now permitted to be sold at condom shops.  I add that I have not seen any promotion material for them outside condom shops in Nha Trang.  Unfortunately, the erupting volcano condom signs have also disappeared before I could photograph them. Does anyone have a pic?

I think it will be ok, but who can predict what the customs agent will do on delivery day.

We're going to try something small first, and see if it goes through. I'm expecting some bar soap, aftershave, and fresh serrano peppers (from the family garden).

I'll come back and let ya'll know what happens. If they reject the shipment my Dad won't accept the charge to send it all back, so I suppose the agents will be nice smelling with fiery tongues on that day.

@tsshapiro why would you want or need to import anything from the West?

almost everything is available in Vietnam.

Have you looked in the megamarts and megamalls, Saigon Square, Anam markets?

Hello, maybe in 2016, when the OP opened this topic, not everything was available ...
