Your Avatar-What does it say about you?
Greetings! I noticed that some people in this forum voluntarily elected to post a picture of themselves next to their Pen name. Some pictures I've seen are straight forward but others are symbolic and more difficult to decipher. So, I thought it would be fun and interesting to hear different the responses.
So, for those of you who have VOLUNTARILY posted a pic of yourself or logo. Please take a minute to share what image/message you want people to know about you.
For example, it can be a simple statement as: "my day at the beach."
To be honest, I'm new to this forum and haven't found a pic/logo that best describes me yet. But working on it. Cheers!

For those who don't know its origin. Anatta in Pali (the liturgical language of Theravada Buddhism) means Non-self. It is one of Buddhism's three fundamental tenets, namely Impermanence (anicca), Suffering (dukkha), and Non-self (anatta).

Anatta,
I don't know... It looks more like a poorly done logo to me.
I get it! Because it is non-self, no interest or no motivation, right?

Unacceptable explanation! Is this what you tell the kids in your class, you teacher type, as opposed to lets-work-together-and-find-me-a-nice-picture?
And you thought my Three Chumps image was bad???

Don't know, man, my design agency gave me a couple of alternatives, but I just don't want to go overboard just for you guys
, causing logo-envy which can start an logo war, so I ended up with a zen-like, minimalistic design
NB: In case you wonder, the last logo is the Chinese-like calligraphy of the Thai translation of anatta

Now, that's a classy logo, not like a picture of some blind, creepy, Hawaiian shirt wearing weasel we have seen lately in this forum.
Anatta, I think the person you might be referring to pulled the picture off the wall in a OC post office shortly before running over here. Only thing missing is the number under it.
Budman1,
So you want a say-it-all frame, hey? How about this one, it speaks volume???
Nope, that one doesn't cut it. No pretty girls. Don't tell my wife I said that.

Budman
I was actually very reluctant to say it, but now that you mentioned it, pls don't tell me that you don't see the similarities

Hi Gang, your responses have definitely been fun and interesting to read (just as I had hoped for). I was hoping to hear from Rojamin because he/she is a difficult one for me to figure out.
@Anatta: so, your personality or lifestyle is centered around strong Buddhism beliefs (mainly "non-self"-in pursuit of spiritual happiness over earthly attachments)? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I was brought up in a Roman Catholic family so I know very little about Buddhism.
@Wild1: Unacceptable explanation! Is this what you tell the kids in your class, you teacher type, as opposed to lets-work-together-and-find-me-a-nice-picture?
Okay, Okay...Geez hang onto your horses. I'm still in the process of looking for a fitting avatar and then figure out how to upload the darn thing.
@Budman1:"Mine says it all."
Okay my assessment is that you live more of a hedonistic lifestyle. You appreciate good beer and sexy women. You value earthly pleasure/attachment over pursuing spiritual enlightment (which I believe is normal, most of us do that).
Thanks for your feedback fellas, I always get a chuckle from reading the verbal jabs you guys throw back and forth at each other. I hope we get more volunteers. Cheers!
Anatta, you hit the nail on the head with the 2nd picture you just posted. Scary. Wonder where Wild_1 ran off to.
amberlulu I had to look that up. Now your gettig scary. I'm going to get a beer and think about this one.
"hedonism often refers to a lifestyle oriented only towards selfish momentary pleasures."

Nope. Just want to sound like self-important, all-knowing pundits who throw around non-sense mumbo-jumbos

Hm, now that Myanmar is now open to western world thus no longer safe haven for fugitives, wonder he is contemplating North Korea!!
Anatta, I'll check with the tollboothgods and see where he ran off to.
Budman1 wrote:Anatta, I'll check with the tollboothgods and see where he ran off to.
Make sure to send them this last seen picture of him and his girlfriend fleeing in his unfinished frankenstein beemer. However, he is known to be under different disguises so not sure it helps.
Anatta, the person riding shotgun with Howie looks like that Viet Kieu from Germany.....
Man, I went to a birthday party and all hell broke loose here!
I would love to exchange roundhouse kicks with you guys, but I have the Snake Oil Salesmen to contend with now...
Howie

Come on, Cha-Ka. Get on it. We are not getting any younger.

agree
and that Non-Self with no motivation blah blah interests me somehow, just like in Yoga course they will ask you to keep yourself still and calm at ease, think of nothing, absolutely no thoughts to be advanced at yoga, to be able to fast for months or stay intact while being pronged, just like a stone. So my curiosity (the roots of all evils to me) is how would you ever get out of the 'stone-like status' without using any thoughts (in case you have managed to get in
)?

"hedonism often refers to a lifestyle oriented only towards selfish momentary pleasures."
@ Budman1:From a Monk, Rabbi, or priests' perspective getting a buzz and enjoying bikini-clad women is hedonism (school of thought which argues that pleasure is the only intrinsic good). It's definitely a "momentary pleasure".... certainly NOT spiritual.
Yea, go get another beer and do some introspection.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not putting you down amigo. I'm just saying that alot of people in the world think this way. In fact, my weakness is food. I put value in eating good food. So, in a sense I'm just like you.

:)Ahhh okay, a businessman, politician, philosopher wearing a monk's robe. Good one.
Budman1 wrote:Anatta, the person riding shotgun with Howie looks like that Viet Kieu from Germany.....
LOL...omg...good one. I believe that VK from germany's name starts with the letter "R".
Rojamin,
That Anatta guy has always been stuck in the "stoned" stage... I have never seen him out so, can't really tell you, man!
What I can tell you is the half-naked girl avatar needs to be explained, do you know what I mean???
Don't pull that snake oil stuff on us now. Shoot... Let's hear it, Slick Rick.
amberlulu wrote:In fact, my weakness is food. I put value in eating good food.
Oh dear!!!
Why didn't you just say so!!!
I have the perfect avatar for you.
May be the Mr Creosote nick may fit you better?
Amberlulu wrote:I'm still in the process of looking for a fitting avatar and then figure out how to upload the darn thing.
No sweat. Unlike your unmotivated students, I have gotten you several to choose from:
OR
All you have to do is choose, sis.

Exact-a-mundo!!

Omar-Abdel-Rahman-wanna-be, you can't really tell. PERIOD!!!
amberlulu wrote::)Ahhh okay, a businessman, politician, philosopher wearing a monk's robe. Good one.
No, just an impostor in wolfs' clothing, but don't tell Howie that since he can't tell.
amberlulu do you use them big words with your 3rd grade students? No wonder you can't deceide on an avatar.
"Definition of INTROSPECTION. : an examination of one's own thoughts and feelings. in·tro·spec·tion·al \-shnəl, -shən-əl\ adjective ..."
Omar-Abdel-Rahman-wanna-be, you can't really tell. PERIOD!!!
So what will that make me, Mohamad-Abdul-Badguy???
As for my avatar, I am one of those that do not like taking pictures. When I get to a beautiful place or meet a capable person, all I care about is how to get back there or meet him/her again. So, in my photo album, there are only a couple of shots that a friend of mine took, while we were in Thailand. The shot that I put on my avatar was right after I had just seen some orangutans doing boxing, at a Thai theme park.
Now, I put that on, in place of my beloved 3 Fur Balls, because of that "Beware of the Snake Oil Salesman, guy!" thread that I started. I anticipated a few rounds with those con men. I just wanted them to know exactly who they are going up against. So that, in the event that they get decked, there will be no ifs and buts about anything.
Now, Rojamin, it is your turn. Let's hear about that half-naked girl image of yours.
Howie
Howie is going for the gangsta look, did anyone notice his E36 post and asking it be deleted?
Welcome back Ashard,
Where have you been, man? Your other amigos, Dusty Bottom and Lucky Day, have been running amuck on here. You have gotten to real them in, bro, especially that Anatta guy.
As for my e36 thread, I accidentally double-posted. So, check-out the other one, while the admin guys delete the one that you just posted.
But, really, you didn't like your e36? Maybe because you didn't maintain it regularly? Man, I would love to get a hold of a cabrio one here... I think it is a perfect car for Vietnam.
Haha i can see that, it looks like Anatta actually spent sometime outsourcing his Avatar! All he had to do was borrow one from our fav Avatar of all time (Budman).
Man, it was in and out of the garage after the second year i swear it spent more time at the agents than my garage. Lovely ride nevertheless. Did the pony tail survive your makeover?
Dude... And he accuses us of being "logo envy"? That guy, I am telling you, is in his own class.
Maybe you and Budman1 are in there with him, but no one else around here even come close.
As for the ponytail, it lives. I was at a Thai themepark. It was hot as hell, so I tied it up. Still look good though, right?
Welcome back Ashard,
Thanks for the nice comment on my avatar, I kind of like it also. amberlulu says Wild_1's reminds her of a Southern Cal call-boy, what ever that might mean.
Wild_1 wrote:That guy, I am telling you, is in his own class.
I took it as a compliment
