Retiree visa anytime soon ?

rogergarinmichaud

Hello dear friends on the expat forum !

I heard a few months back that the Vietnamese government was planning to introduce a new "retiree visa".

Have you heard similar stories and/or have you any valid information on the subject ?

After spending 53 days in Vietnam in 2024 we would like to come back to Vung Tau and Nha Trang in 2025 but for a longer period so a new retiree visa would fit us fine !

Thanks for your help !

Hi Roger,

No changes since this thread (link) and definitely nothing other than wishful thinking morphed into baseless rumors regarding new options for a retirement visa.

Other than a 90 day tourist visa on either one of your passports OR the 45 Day Visa Exemption on your French passport, your only other options are a one-year business visa when establishing a business with a minimum ₫600,000,000 VNĐ capital contribution (plus expenses related to the business establishment) OR a 3-Year Temporary Resident Card (TRC) when investing ₫3,000,000,000 VNĐ in a government approved industry.

Please see this recent thread (maybe admin will paste this thread there so we aren't recreating the wheel...)

Thank you so much for the reply. Truly appreciated !

We are planning to stay 3 months at Nha Trang (90 days visa on the Australian passport) then fly to Bangkok and spend 2 months at Pattaya then fly to HCMC and spend 45 days at Vung Tau...(no visa entry with the French passport) so no Cambodia run for us in 2025. At age 76  l am afraid this kind of minivan trip would be too exhausting for us.
