Visas To Enter Vietnam

@It2VN
Sounds good. But reports have shown that Monday the 15th will be counted as "day zero", Tuesday the 16th then being day one, with a hoped-for eVisa issuance being late Thursday (18th) or early Friday(19th).
My only suggestion is that you purchase a return flight ticket which can be cancelled/rescheduled.
Use of a VPN, in my opinion, will not be necessary. Immigration officers reviewing your application will see that you have "exited" VN, as your passport will have been scanned (and stamped) at the customs exit gate. - @Aidan in HCMC
Thanks Aidan for the quick reply. WHen you say Monday the 15th is day zero, I assume you mean every Monday is considered so?
I might correctly conclude that if the visa hasn't been issued by Friday evening (of that week we're talking about), it's issuance is suspended till the Monday following at the earliest? - @It2VN

Hopefully you won't mind me being blunt with you. I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just trying to cut to the chase after your extended inquiries on this subject.

We don't guarantee anything in the forum.

Nothing.

You can't rely on our advice for anything especially since there are so many different factors that can influence the performance of the immigration department when processing an application.

Unless you're an absolutely broke transient person who can't afford anything more than the bare necessities in Vietnam, I highly recommend that you use an agent..

Oh my gosh, yes, that is going to cost you a little bit of extra money.

But it's been my experience over the last 7 years that when someone has as many questions as you do, the visa experience will remain confusing and intimidating no matter what we say.

I have seen people in similar circumstances post the same questions to 10 different expat groups on Facebook, even though one group gives them all the answers they need..

Just do yourself a favor and get an agent to handle it so you can chill.

Once an agent gets involved you're going to know exactly what to expect and when to expect it..

That's the end of my rant.

Good luck

@Aidan @OceanBeach   I tried to PM but unable too for some reason.  I am currently in An Long Dong Thap on a 90 day multiple entry visa and would like to get an extension before it runs out 12 March.  We plan to go back to Thailand on 7 March, and return couple months later.  I have been reading this string, and it kind of twisted and turned in a couple directions......my question is if I get an extension of current Visa, will I be able to travel back to Thailand and return on the extension, or just let it run out and apply on-line for another one for the return.   2) in case extension is in my best interest, where can I apply for it??, I understand Cao Lanh is the Tan Pho for our area now, or do I have to go to Saigon??   Thanx in advance.

Site has gotten a bit buggy, unable to edit my post - I plan to leave 7 March return in April, not a couple months.   Also the direct PM doesn't work anymore.  I don't like jumping in on someone's thread..........Tim

Absolutely no extensions.

You either exit the country and then apply for a new visa which can take up to a week to get approved, or you contact a visa agent before you leave and they arrange to get you an expedited return into the country within 2 to 4 hours after exiting.

Thanx a lot, figured that, hopefully Vietnam Immigration folks will come to their senses and re-establish a longer visa for us 'retired' folks that are not married to a Vietnamese.......No matter, we plan to be in Thailand at least a month then return.....I can get another 90day Multiple there.  Cheers

They welcome retired foreigners who also invest here.

Hello all,

Does anyone know the difference and clarify my question below:

VN has visa exemption with many countries mostly west, let's say UK national for example.

I have also looked on VN Gov sites, the logic is if no visa is required then those nationals  would arrive at the airport get a entry stamp, stay the allowed number of days (45 days) and leave get an Exit stamp.

However, nowadays MOST countries even without visa need to have a "Arrival Card" filled either online or print out fill in all info and hand over to immigration officer on Arrival; has anyone see the ARRIVAL CARD?? Where can you get the ARRIVAL CARD?

All gov sites, official agents site and travel agent sites direct me to E-VISA form, I do not need a visa and not to pay for a visa so Where is the Arrival Card?

Has anyone been Thailand, it was a real ONLINE Arrival card (on gov site) it is a RE-Writable PDF to fill in almost instantly it land as approved in your email inbox, put it on your phone, arrive in BKK airport, show it to Immi officer you get a stamp for your 60 days, that was it.

btw, the form of VN e-visa has to be printed out or do it at the long queue at the airport, you have to have photographs stick on the form.

sorry it is long, so I will ask again: has anyone see the ARRIVAL CARD?? Where can you get the ARRIVAL CARD?

Thanks

There is no "Arrival Card" formality when entering Vietnam.

If your expat.com profile is correct, as a citizen of South Africa you are not eligible for visa-exempt entry.

If your profile is incorrect, please amend it and let us know.

Not applicable to Vietnam.

Reports from multiple members is that presentation of a digital copy of your approved eVisa is being accepted at international entry/exit points. Once an individual's eVisa application has been approved, it is sufficient to save the eVisa to one's phone/tablet/laptop and show it to the Customs officer upon entry.

There is no requirement to present physical photographs.

Thanks - @peaceatwood

There is no "ARRIVAL CARD", ergo, you cannot get one.

Hope that helps

I am dual national

@peaceatwood

You're welcome.

If you will be arriving via air, your airline will (may?) provide you with an NA1 card to complete in-flight. It is a simple customs declaration form, though reports are that this form is no longer used. It is not required for entry via land/sea.

There's something not right about the infographic shown above. Missing is the UK and its 45 day visa free entry.
