I'm an American and my girlfriend is Vietnamese. (I have 2 questions)

Straight On

Hi -

I'm a 31-year-old American ESL teacher in Ha Noi (Hanoi). My girlfriend and I are interested in coming to live and work in Bangkok. I have two questions:

1. She's 31, Vietnamese, fluent (and great) in English, has a college degree, a lot of HR work experience, and is currently a manager at an environmental NGO. She's open to different jobs, but definitely something that's in line with her education level and vast amount of work experience. Any recommendations would really help; it just seems really difficult for educated Vietnamese people to get jobs in other countries.

2. I've been an ESL teacher here in Viet Nam for 18 months now. I have a college degree (sociology) and no teaching certifications (I also have a ton of experience as a counselor/teacher in the U.S.). Would my experience nullify my need for a TEFL in Bangkok? Specifically, do you think I'd still be able to get the better paying jobs that I've heard require a teaching certification? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Take care.

Thanks,
Matt
